Answer: The three day detox diet is more of a detox than a diet. You may very well lose some weight, but it will be mostly water weight. It is extremely difficult to lose weight in three days and any you do lose is likely to be gained back unless you make a lifestyle change.
With that being said the three day detox can definitely aid in weight loss primarily through the colon cleansing that accompanies the detox. There are many programs out there but basically they are very similar. You replace all food with fruits and vegetables and all beverages with water and lemon juice.
People with certain conditions such as heart disease, liver failure, of diabetes must talk to their doctor before trying this detox. For others it is a perfectly healthy thing to do provided you do not stay on it forever.
The fruits and vegetables are roughage will assist in cleaning out the colon. You may void a significant amount during these three days, which could account for some weight loss. It has been estimated that the average person can be carrying up to fifteen pounds of undigested material in their colons.
After you have followed the three day detox diet you should feel noticeably better with an increase in energy. At this point you should re-evaluate your dietary habits and consider eating the same amount of fruits and vegetables with some protein mixed in.
