Question: I was wondering if there are any non colonic symptoms of IBS? Thank you.

Answer: There are a multitude of non-colonic symptoms of IBS. These can be felt in conjunction with colonic symptoms or they can stand on their own. IBS can be difficult to diagnose because there are so many symptoms that may or may not indicate a diagnosis of IBS and there is no diagnostic test available to confirm IBS.

The first non colonic symptom you may feel is nausea. This can be at any time of the day, but is usually worse in the evening.

You also may not be able to eat as much as you would like. It is not uncommon for sufferers of IBS to feel very full after eating only a small amount.

You also may feel that you have to urinate urgently several times a day only to find out that it was not urgent at all after you make it to the bathroom. You may also feel you have finished urinating only to find out you did not as you exit the restroom.

Fatigue is another common non-colonic symptom of IBS. If you are getting enough rest, but are constantly tired this can be an indication you have IBS.

We hope this brief overview of the non-colonic symptoms of IBS proves to be helpful and we wish you all the best.
